The Administration of Estates Act 1925 reformed the intestacy rules to allow women to benefit on the same terms as men.  The distinction between the treatment of land (which had formerly gone to the heir-at-law) and personal property was removed, and primogeniture and the old sex-specific allocations were abolished.
